Hello all

New to the forum and dipping my toe in I could do with some advice please.

I launch a new wholesale/general business blog tomorrow and as part of my offering I have interviews with small business owners about how they started up. I am wondering how best to keyword these without butchering the interview as I will be doing keyword research and then building the posts around the keywords.

What would you guys do?

Thanks

My recommendation is to include your keyword in the title of the interview as naturally as possible.

For example, if you were interviewing Rand Fishkin and you were targeting the keyword: "inbound marketing", you'd make the title of the interview something line:

Expert Inbound Marketing Insights With Rand Fishkin
    Signature

      Thanks Backlinko,

I am just feeling my way around the keyword and SEO world, so are you saying I could create and research a keyword around the particular interview in this case. For example, this weeks interview is about a a girl making cupcakes, next week it will be another type of business.

Yes, exactly. Look into keywords people use to find whatever it is she'll be talking about (in her case, starting a mail order business, her brick and mortar biz etc.) and tie that into the title and the interview description.

Use keywords in subheadings. Also, use related keywords or sub-keywords to set context.

Thanks Write, I was going to do that with H1 and H2 headings in the interview. it means the interview questions will chabge slightly each week but I dont see that as a problem

Create a TOC (table of contents) at the top of your page & break the interview down into small chunks of info (keywords). Use the TOC as jump links like Wikipedia does to jump down the web page.

Each TOC link in the example below jumps down the page to the matching
tag.

    Example:

Building Repair - domain.com

Building Repair

Repairs

Nunc nibh lorem, congue a tempus sed, rhoncus in lacus. Morbi aliquet nisi nec purus vulputate sit amet congue risus faucibus. Nulla facilisi. Vivamus congue odio luctus tellus scelerisque luctus.

Maintenance

Nulla egestas vulputate diam sed adipiscing. Integer convallis turpis at eros venenatis sit amet vulputate justo vehicula. Phasellus cursus congue nulla, vitae cursus metus aliquam id. Integer magna risus, auctor vel commodo ultricies, euismod vel orci. Sed tincidunt, mauris quis facilisis consectetur, ipsum velit porttitor libero, vitae tempus nunc velit ullamcorper risus.

Quotes

Vivamus cursus dapibus ligula, eu dapibus lectus euismod quis. Cras purus augue, aliquam id congue sed, vestibulum ut felis. Suspendisse nulla turpis, feugiat nec facilisis non, condimentum vel ligula.

Jump links can also get you extra links in your SERP description (example below).
