Problem with the website date.

Hi. I am working with a newspaper industry. Since last 2 days I have noticed that when I type epaper for my website the Google shows me yesterday's date but Google should display today's newspaper date instead yesterday's date.

Ex. Google shows Aug 8, 2013.

But my newspaper is of today's date. Google should show Aug 9, 2013.

Anyone has any suggestions? I need help urgently.

Google shows the date they found the last time the page was indexed.

If you want the page date updated daily, you need to have Google visiting the same page daily.

The date Google shows in the SERPs is based on the on-page text/date.
  • Yes. Agree. But, if someone search epaper then the date should come Aug 9, 2013 and not Aug 8,2013. Please see this screeshot clear what I mean. I am confused to decide that whether it is a coding issue or Google cached issue.

Like I said, Google gets the date from the web page. That's easily proven by removing all traces of plain text dates from the web page & watching the SERP date get removed the next time Google indexes the page.

If you want the date changed in the SERPs simply edit the date on your own web page & get Google to reindex the same page. Done.

  • Or else remove the date completely and show it using a javacript like I have done here on bluehosting-review.com
