Sitewide clickbank ads. Massive drop in ranking

I have taken off adsense on all my ads and replaced 2 of my ad blocks with Clickbank banners. I did this 3 days ago and today my daily organic traffic literally halved. Ive not done any blackhat or spammy stuff so could it be the clickbank ads causing the problem?

  • If you haven't made any changes then obviously that's the difference.

Are you using plain CB links? Personally I would never do that.

Make manual 302 redirects in your htaccess file to your aff links, and use pretty URL names on your domain.

    • I am so useless with the coding stuff

I used something called prettly links on one of my blogs and made this page Capture His Heart and Make Him Love You Forever

This them redirects to the offer. Is that the right way to do it or can google see through this link?

  • ALL affiliate ads have to be nofollowed. I suggest trying that.
  • Nothing you did 2 or 3 days ago necessarily has halved your traffic. It could be a multitude of things or something that is completely out of your control. Hold up. Wait a minute. Give it a week at least and check out places where other webmasters might be reporting similar things. You know what you changed so you don't need to panic there. Of course, "the usuals" are coming in to tell you to nofollow things and make redirects in your ht "whatever" file. Calm down. Take stock. Look around.

Don't make any massive changes, at this point. Come back and tell us in a few days how things are going.
  • Main thing is..

If any site has Adsense, the site performs good in Google search engine, traffic would also increase , gets visitors from Google.

As you removed Adsense, so you are not getting these benefits, thats why you are thinking that your ClickBank banner is causing.

    • Are you kidding me!?

If that was the case, then all made for AdSense sites would be in Google heaven!

  • Looks like you've found out the hard way! If you're going to link to ClickBank, do it through a meta refresh, and keep the number of links to a minimum. If your whole site is plastered with ads you will get hit.

  • If I take the ads off will it go back to normal again?
