hello guys while i was searching for an EMD for my Niche i have found that the .pw domain is available should i go for it based on the name registrar (namecheap) it's a TLDs
#search engine optimization #good
  • there is also an EMD availabe ends with .co but with hyphens
    (firstword) - (second word) .co

    • I would go for neither, and come up with a better domain.
      Forget the EMD shtuff.

Has nothing to do with the extension in those cases, but
it's taking EMDs to the extreme.

I had to Google .pw, lol, never heard of that one.

It's a country TLD for Palau (never heard of it) which is a tropical island (nice, really nice).

OP, unless your niche is related to Palau, I wouldn't buy the domain. Brand the site instead of an EMD. An EMD isn't going to help you If your target keyword has any real competition.

  • so should i choose
    (firstword) - (second word) .co

    • People have already told you, the Exact Match Domain advantage has been removed. I would just choose a good brandable domain.
      • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • Seriously, if your rankings depend that much on the precise wording of your domain name, then you should probably rethink your entire SEO strategy.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • Avoid .co and .pw. You can surely come up with a .com that works. Just add a good prefix or adjective to your main keyword phrase.

    • .pw has been opened to the general public, so it is NOT
geotargeted anymore. Unless you have a really bad extension,
like .tk, then almost any extension in 2013 can work.

Question is, why would you actually want that domain extension?

It's not cool like .me, .be, etc. I mostly could give a rip about
domain extensions, but man you gotta be out there to even think
outside the normal extension box if that's what you come up with.

I regularly use the site sxc.hu, but no way would I ever say to go out
      and get a .hu

Sometimes you gotta add logic and need to the mix. You don't
      logically need a .pw

  • Hi to all guys, I had never heard about .pw & .tk extension but I read here about them and its a new term for me to add in my knowledge. Thanks to all you guys for sharing here such nice post.
  • .pw had a marketing strategy, that stated "the professional web domain", which IMHO was dumb.

I'd suggest you to go with a domain name different from the exact match keyword. Try to make it broad, think brand.
