Hello,

I was thinking about starting my first ever PPC campaign for Bluehost and I was wondering if anyone had some advice for me.

So far I've used the adwords platform to look at CPC which varies at about 1.50

The CPC seems to change as I change my daily spending limit and max bid and I'm just very confused as to all of this works.

If anyone could give some advice or point me in the direction of some good PPC how to articles I would really appreciate it!

Thanks Warriors!

Promoting hosting deals does NOT sound like an easy way to get into PPC, I would look at something a lot less competitive, you will lose the shirt off your back before you figure it all out. No, I don't know why CPC changes according to your other parameters - those are some of the reasons I am very mistrustful of Adwords...

Who says you can't earn money as an eBay affiliate any more? My stats say otherwise

Thats a nasty niche you are getting into...
there is shit loads of competition meaning 2 things :

    1. your cpc will be VERY high.
    2. your landing page or rep should be awesome cause ppl have loads of options..... cheaper and better as well....

if you want to get into this business, find a webhosting service provider who give monthly recurring commissions and target a city or country where cpc is low....

if not done correctly, not only will you be losing your tshirt, you might just be left in your shorts!

      True that.

Unless you have ton loads of experience and extremely good QS/landing page, back off.

On the other hand, webhosting and website creation stuff is niche where the money is. Let's face it, there are always 10 ads above fold, some of the sites have been there for 2+ years. What does it mean? It means that there is positive ROI and money to be made.

    I agree with Mark..

    1. Try Bing Ads... it should have lesser CPC and better quality traffic.. however it will have lesser traffic in total compared to adwords......

    2. Make sure you use 'exact' keywords rather than Broad or Phrase.. this gives you a cheaper CPC

    3. Use Dynamic Keywords... this really increases CTR...

    Best of Luck!!!

Bing automatically changes your ad text to match that of a searcher's keyword entry .....

suppose you have an ad on flowers...
        your ad says :

Get the best fresh flowers at xyz.com

a person types : red flowers in the search bar

dynamic text will make your ad look like:
Get the best fresh red flowers at xyz.com

Read this and you will know how to do it ...

Don't keep changing your budget & bids - set them and monitor how much you actually pay over a period of a few days. If your CTR is not good and you're in average position 1-3, improve your ads, if your av position is is way up, ie > 6, then increase your bids - and the only thing that matters is your profit per keyword.

First ever PPC campaign promoting hosting? Not a good idea...

Since you're learning, you'll LOSE money either way, but at least if you go for a less competitive niche, your losses won't be so dramatic.

If you're going to use Adwords, be careful as they are VERY picky with their landing pages. Instead, go for Bing Adcenter, as they are a lot more flexible, but their traffic volume is quite a bit lower compared to Google.
