Have you tried a more personal type of outreach to site owners, like contacting them through linkedin.com?
Is your site of high quality and reputation?
Can you add any additional value to their website, that they can not do for themselves?

Linda, you have to consider as well if your email does not reach their spam folder. Most emails have a strong spam filtering mechanism that they even treat an email as a "spam mail" if it contains a link(or a URL if you wish).

Also, how many have you emailed? "Two" can be called "a lot". I mean, if you sent an email to 50 up to 100 webmasters, I am almost 100 percent certain that, at least, one of them will give you a positive response.

If you can shoot me a copy of that proposal letter you're sending to webmasters, I may give a more defined feedback.

What you want to do is stop contacting blogs directly because that isn't always fruitful.

What I would suggest is google for "guest blog network"; as there are quite a few of them that are in all probability worthy of your devotion.

Also, maybe some helpful people here with decent blogs will offer you a gig?

But DEFINITELY check out guest blogging networks.

(I've joined a ton of them, but won't bore you with a massive list of URLs. lol).

Instead of contacting people try signing up to the blogs that allow guest posting and write your post, if its good they will publish that

To increase your chances of finding someone who will approve your request, start by only contacting sites who you know have approved them in the past. Here's an easy way to find those types of sites:

1) Google this: “guest post by” + “Your Niche”
2) Review the list of sites returned and pick the best ones.
3) See if their site has an established way to 'apply' to become a guest poster.
4) If not, contact them through email.

The google search works because most sites who publish guest blogs label them with the words 'guest post by.'

I was looking to do this myself, but recently read an article on econsultancy that suggested that putting your guest post onto sites that accept to many such guest posts could do you more harm than good in the eyes of Google.

Isn't guest blogging about finding relevant blogs to post to? Well, if you're finding irrelevant sites to post to I wouldn't call that guest blogging.

To easiest and fastest way to get your first guest blog is to sign up to BloggerLinkUp. I got 11 relevant guest blogs up on their websites within 2 weeks part-time.

Well to begin with it depends on your approach.
You should have a brief message. That includes:
- Your Name
- Your Blogs URL
- Compliment their Establishment
- Title of Your Article(The article you want to Guest Post)
- What it is about? (100 word summary)
- Sign Off

These Guest Blogs are going to get 10's or 100's of proposals everyday, make sure your proposal stands out.

By the way this is a basic format that has helped my Guest Post on PR 1 to 7 websites.

I suggest you to go to Myblogguest(dot)com (its a largest guest blogging community) and start digging through your desired categories and contact the blog owners via PM. You'll definitely find someone who is willing to grab your content and that too for free.

Get yourself known by other people first so they'll know you can be useful to them. I agree on being active on social networking sites especially LinkedIn. Participating in communities can give your blog more exposure.

It sounds like you have a pitching problem. There are many different ways to pitch a site. Our sharks have our own ways of getting to the "top of the stack," but you could probably check out this moz post that was recently put up discussing pitch emails: Guest Post Outreach Best Practices - YouMoz - Moz. I also found this one while on the moz blogroll.

Hope this helps! Once you find your groove, you'll figure out what works for you and what doesn't. My one piece of advice is: Make everything convenient and be super-thankful.

IMO you should contact the WMs by sending the sample work that you are willing to offer. Initially start contacting with average traffic site owners as there are more chances of acceptance of your request.

When I spent 5 years developing a domain to win a serious income stream (with in-depth content), I'll be damned if I'm going to post some 500 word drivel article with a link to my competition - especially when the person requesting the guest post calls themselves from Hollywood (including their picture of a hot blond girl), and an IP address in Bangladesh.
