Google Disavow Service - any luck with penalized sites?

Have you guys had any luck getting back older penalized sites using the disavow tool?

I've got a site thats bringing me in a lot of money... but the SEO traffic died quickly after I used the wrong SEO service (that just spammed the hell out of my site).

So I'm wondering if I can save the site's organic traffic by just straight up disavowing a lot of older spammy links.

Any thoughts?

    did you receive an unnatural link warning?


    try removing them first, the disavow tool should be only your last resort.


    and also if the penalization was algorithm triggered it would take months to recover (if its deemed to recover). Manual penalization takes less time to fix since it's er... manual.

      No I didn't get an unnatural link warning.

      But I don't think that goes out to 100% of sites that aren't ranking as well as possible due to these factors.

      Maybe I'm wrong... but I thought it could help boost my SEO by getting rid of bad links?

    You have to try to erase them before, after you do it, you have to send a reconsidaration recuest to google.

    Do an analysis of your backlink profile and remove all those links that you can remove, the next part of the job will be build more links with generic anchors
