Hey, who here uses Link Authority? What are your thoughts?

I haven't used any type of automated software in ages. Just heard about this from a friend a couple of days ago. I know nothing about it. Apparently he's been ranking his sites with no competition. But then again, how hard is it to rank a site with no competition ?

Unless they have changed something, it is a blog network like BMR.

Got it. Friend was telling me how it is like BMR as well except each site is own by a different person. Still a private blog network IMO. Or should I say, public blog network more than anything.

Some of them are. You can join by either submitting blogs for posting credit or paying a monthly fee.

They are still blogs with topics all over the place, so really no less risky than BMR was.

Isn't Google going to catch on to these blog networks sooner or later and start penalizing sites linking back from them?

I think so Link authority is the value of your placed links. These value are calculated in accordance with traffic, PR, domain authority etc.

If it's anything like BMR (like Mike said) I wouldn't use it for Google SERPs, still Yahoo & Bing aren't too picky about link quality so creating another site only targeting Yahoo & Bing might work as long as the traffic/earnings are worthwhile.

One of my competition has a few sites, one of his sites is all junk links, he dropped like a brick in Google SERPs but that same site/pages ranks decent in Yahoo & Bing.

I never understood how rankings work with Yahoo. Is there a specific way to particularly go for Yahoo/Bing in the SERPS?

To be honest I don't put much effort into Yahoo or Bing. I just noticed my competition ranks very well in Yahoo/Bing & just about all his links are spammy.

I still get traffic from Yahoo/Bing but the only SERPs I really focus on is Google.

From what I've seen Yahoo/Bing are kind of like Google was in the olden days, spam it out with a bunch of links & stuffed anchor-text, lol.

Alright I'm going to test that out with one of my shitty sites. Gah I feel horrible when I say that...shitty site.

Maybe I should have said over optimized instead of spammy.

Truth is, Google is very quickly discovering such link-building networks and penalizing or hugely dropping ranks of the websites associated with them. Yahoo and Bing do seem a bit not concerned about how links are gained, whether they are acquired naturally or artificially and where they originate from. Try to pick links one by one, with attention and caution, even if you have to buy them, do not trust some networks which already are used by the masses because such red flags will be soon spotted by Google team.
