How can I rank #1 for low comp KW?

If it is a low competition keyword, you shouldn't have to do much. Make sure your on-page SEO is all done properly. Make sure your site is being crawled by Google & the other search engines.

For link building, I wouldn't worry about that much. In fact, for those low comp keywords, too many links can quickly look spammy and get you smacked by Google. Just post the page up, then share it on your Facebook/Google+/LinkedIn pages and then give it a little time.

If the competition is that low, then I wouldn't do anything other than build one or two links and I would guess you should hit first page within a week or two (assuming your on-page is all in order). If you are not where you want to be in 30 days, build a few more links. Slow....is the way to go in the situation.

But where do I build the links? Ezine articles, blog post? That is all stuff I did in the past but figured that was old school and ineffective now....

Perhaps the passage of a few more days will get you crawled and on top of the rankings. If you have a chance in the meantime, use a tool like Market Samurai to drill into what the folks who are currently getting page one rankings for that KW are doing.

It's not wasted time, either. I have never failed to learn something by examining the page one links for a keyword. In fact, my SEO has become very effective just by using my natural curiosity in research.

If your on-page is good and your not first yet... then link building is the way to go .

Don't go for low quality links ... look for high pr links that you can achieve real value with.

If you need help finding backlinks... lots of people post in the SEO section a ton of links and some of them are really good.

You could create a couple web 2.0's such as Tumblr, Wordpress, or blogger. Add about 3-5 pages of revelant content, including pics, videos and throw a few links at those such as social bookmarks to help get them indexed. Once indexed link back to your main site. Diversify your anchor text though, don't just use only your keyword, use the brand name (company name) as well as just naked links.

Do you have Google Authorship set up and a local business page connected to your site? Optimize your local page and link it up with your site, this can also help rankings for local keywords. Also having your picture show up in the SERPS can help your CTR.

Like said above you can do guest posts on relevant sites as well, to find those use the below search strings

“KEYWORD” “submit a guest post”

Another option for local business sites I've had some success with is Citation Sites as well (local directory listings).

All these should move you up there, just rinse and repeat till your #1

YOUTUBE YOUTUBE YOUTUBE. If it is low competition create a short 3-5 minute video and put on youtube. Get some backlinks to the video and make sure you have a good call to action and phone number in the video.

You can rank videos in 1-2 weeks and they 1) Stand out in the search listings 2) Stick on the first page.

Make sure to provide a link to your site in the description. Then work on ranking your website/page on the first page so you have 20% of the realestate on Google for that listing.

Blogspot, ezine would be a good idea but you can pretty much automate the whole process with GSA.

In connection with your low competition keyword, does it have a high monthly search volume? You need to combine low competition keywords with high monthly search volume in order to get good results on SERPs.

Links from other authoritative and relevant websites will do the trick.

Create a quality article targetting the keyword you want to rank and build 5-6 quality blogposts with the post URL. You will rank.

Why? The keyword has absolutely no search volume.

I would like to suggest dont go for excessive link building. Just try to figure out high quality and relevant links . Also be engage in social website.

For my low competition keyword, it took 2 to three months before it ranks number one spot on Google's searches, and I noticed that consistency and building reputation is one of most important factors for this.

Congrats for having found a keyword in this niche with LOW competition... Just use Social bookmarking sites, submit some of your article pages (*UNIQUE title and description for best results!)... And if you have time, a quick guest blogging on related blogs with this KEYWORD (or related keyword!)

As for low competition keywords, backlink quantity is not important, just pay attention on the quality, such as get links from blogspot, or wordpress or ezarticle and so on.

I think high-quality tiered backlinks will do the trick. 2 or 3 Tier 1s backed up with lower quality tier 2s and tier 3s. You should be able to rank quickly if its a low competition keyword.

Hi Ryan. Even if you have an idea on the volume of the competition, you must also check the currently ranking site in first and second page. Real estate is a very tough niche you might not have noticed that the current ranking pages have a lot of guys working for their backlinks reason for you to double the effort but still get less chance of ranking.

If the onpage seo is already set-up, it now goes to building links. Make sure you make backlinks with diverse keywords with a good amount of phrase match to "guaranteed home sale Appleton" + its placed on relevant and high pr pages.

1. Build a web page.
2. Build relevant internal links.
3. If step #2 doesn't rank the page, build quality external links.
4. Done.

I've had success for very low competition keywords by simply using directory submission links.

I personally use Directory Maximizer but I'm sure there are tons of directory submission services out there.

You might even be able to rank low competition keywords with social bookmarking gigs from Fiverr.
