Hello Warriors:

My first E-commerce website was heartlandpetbeds.com. Shortly after we started we realized that we sell more than pet beds. We renamed the website.

We renamed the website pawsandclawspetsupply.com.

I deleted the old heartlandpetbeds site from my Google webmaster.

Yoday I used the Google backlink checker and there are a bunch of links from:

heartlandpetbeds.com ...............my old website.

Why would my re-named site have backlinks from my old site. Internal links maybe. I am at a loss.

Any ideas?

You should have kept the old site intact & used it for backlinks. Relevant backlinks for $10 per year (domain renewal) is basically free links.

    • there is no way you can have backlinks from your old site to your new one unless they were physcially put there or you did a re-direct. I wouldn't keep the old site online particularly if they share the same ip. Just redirect everything.
