why would you want to remove backlinks?

honestlyvi would just concentrate on getting top quality links to your site now these will dilute out the bad ones....

you can send emails to webmasters but honestly I wouldnt bother....

if the links link to internal pages then changing the current url of that page has helped a couple of my sites recover.

failing that get a new domain and start over...lol although I have never needed to do this.

ps also take a look and see which penalty you were hit by as this will also guide you in a direction of where you need to look... why remove links if it is a content issue

I would agree with Danny, I don't believe it has big affect, after all even the big sites got to have links from non related niches.

You know your right. If you want to keep the site and get it back up there you need those links removed.

Do you know I get those emails all the time though asking me to remove links and I go to where there link is supposed to be and there is no link. So I don't know if anything is full proof. I mean I check there site for backlinks and sure enough it says it's on my site but I can't find it and I don't see it in the code either.
