    I'd much rather start building authority sites than micro sites, if I were you. Long term I believe these will give the highest ROI

    SEO is basically the same for micro sites as it is for authority sites. You will just have more pages and need better link organization on a bigger site.

    Micro niche sites can definitely still be profitable, if you find a low competition keyword that can make money. I say low competition because it is unlikely that your micro site will rank well for a high competition keyword unless you get boatloads of legitimate links pointing to it, which can be a challenge.

    In one of my niches there is a micro niche site owned by a competitor that consistently ranks highly on Google for a single keyword (the site is an EMD for that keyword), and the site offers a few products that are perfectly related to that keyword. My guess is that the owner is probably making some decent cash off of it, since my own site makes some money by ranking a bit lower for that same keyword.

      Hi Curtis, might it be that the reason for ranking is the EMD alone? can you give more details about the backlinks used by your competitor site (if you have checked out on them though)
