Expired tumblr question

So I've got around 50 expired tumblr blogs, all between PR1-5.

What's the best way to use them?

Lets say I use a PR5 site to just post a plain backlink to my moneysite with my main KW as anchor text. No more content. What effects would it have?

How important is the name of the blog? The subdomain that is.. Could I help boosting any niche with any name?

  • Check the PA of these blogs.
Post content on these blogs (which have the PA higher than 10) and use contextual backlinks to your moneysite.
  • You will benefit if you add content to them and link to your site inline.

    • 50 expired tumblr blogs with PR will almost certainly loose the PR on the next update.

If you check where the backlinks are pointing to for the expired urls then you will see they almost certainly point to pages/posts that previously existed on the Tumblr blog but now don't.
  • Well most of them have decent backlinking still, may drop a rank perhaps..

But why is the content important? Why won't a single simple backlink still work?

    And what is PA?

    • The content is important because of the way tumblr works

Most of the links etc will be coming from other tumblr blogs that have re-blogged/liked posts on the blog - Now that the posts have gone then this means the links have too -

I remember when many users used to sell expired tumblr blogs with PR - users were under the impression they were getting a great deal but that wasn't the case.

    • PA = Page Authority.

You can check your Tumblr Blogs Page Authority by visiting this link: Page Authority Checker

If you have blogs with PA over 5, then i suggest you to get some original content on these blogs with a link to your site. Then ping the articles.
  • PA means Page Authority according to the OpensiteExplorer. More PA is always better :-)
  • What do you mean by "expired"? you mean you can't access the tumblr dashboard?

    or

Do you mean you moved the content to your own domain with a tumblr theme and what it was left is the "expired" tumblr?

    or

Do you mean that you transfered everything to a domain that is "expired"? because each one of this cases are different.

    • Oh well, I've reregistered expired ones with PR already.

PA over 5? Or did you mean 50?

Why do you guys go on over a fake metric like PA?

    • For the same reason OP question makes no sense, because he read it somewhere, he combined those words with a bunch of other "related" terms he read in another forum and is posting it here to increase his post count

    • What metrics do you use? PR (cause of no update) doesn't make sense anymore... Majestic Trust? What else?

  • If you don't have content, you won't have ANY benefit from this backlink... A natural backlink according to Google is a backlink with A LOT of UNIQUE and GOOD content (related to the website you are promoting!)

    • Even if the page has high PR and great backlinking?

Won't it atleast pass on some PR?
  • You can use web achieve to recreate those pages when you register those expired tumblr that way you way you will less likely going to loss pr.

    • I believe tumblr will always generate a random number when you create a post

      Something like the link below

      http://damn-funny.tumblr.com/post/69710019134/mczayn-how-do-i-stop-caring-about-people-who

It would be almost impossible to re-create the pages -

When someone re-blogs your post then that post will show on their blog with a link back to it - All of these re-blog's will be sending juice to the posts which will in turn be sending the juice to your main url.

once you loose these inner pages then re-blogs will be lost - I believe tumblr will remove every post associated with that blog (even all re-blogs form other tumblr blogs - Im not 100% on this though but it would make sense to do it from a coding point of view and for keeping Tumblr clean)

If you loose these then you've lost the juice thats being sent to the main blog.

My best advise would be to create a new blog or even use the ones you have, post good content, follow users and like other posts - Users will re-blog your posts and get the process started again - When you get a re-blog from a tumblr user then the links are do-follow - when you like or re-blog then the actual links in the notes are no follow - It really is easy to gain PR on Tumblr -

  • Guys you cannot re-register expired usernames or deleted usernames on Tumblr. At least when i tried on dead usernames. Prove me i am wrong?
