Hi,

I just noticed that my authorship markup isn't showing in the search results.

Though when I check through here: https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/richsnippets

It says that it is working.

What could be wrong?

I would really like to fix this, because I have a very handsome face which would definitely increase my click throughs. Just kidding of course.

Yeah, and I have configured it for my other blog for which it worked, but it seems it doesn't show up anymore for it as well.

I don't know what your current picture is, but Google uses a image management algo to determine image quality and they may not display images that they deem to be under a certain threshold.

    Try switching your image.

Secondly, if your markup is recent then you may need just give it some time.

Google will not show it every time. Only when they feel like it.
If you just changed it, of course it takes time.

Have you checked off everything? https://support.google.com/webmaster.../1306778?hl=en

I don't use that authorship stuff. I can get a larger image & any image I want with self hosted video thumbnail images & customized to each internal page.

          Example,

Video on the left, author image on the right (screenshot below).

If I was searching for vacation ideas, I wouldn't be clicking on the guys image as long as the video image was on the 1st page of the SERPs.

BTW, I could enlarge that guys image & use it as a video thumbnail image to rank in Google SERPs, If I wanted. The guys image doesn't even have to be in the video.

I think the point is, Yukon, that if you have a 1000+ people in your Google circles, your author image might show up on many serps where there are none of these. I'm definitely seeing it more and more - all gamed of course, which makes a mockery, but there nonetheless.

Edit: Doesn't prove that it's helping, but it's pissing me off

Maybe, but If those same 1,000 people in that circle are logged into a Google account, odds are that same video would show up in their SERPs.

Size matters (that's what s/he said).

Since its saying its not working you might not have done the authorship verification well but try and check out my post on how to get it verified.

Hmm after diving into this a little bit deeper I found that the option Help others discover my profile in search results. was somehow unchecked. Not sure how did that happen and was it the reason that my authorship wasn't showing.

    Will, see after 24 hours.
P.S. that option is found here https://www.google.com/settings/plus though all the Google tutorials linked to a different page.

According to the G+ community I am in, your author pic shows up if your profile has a high trust rating. Are you in good standing in G+?

    Check and confirm that
-You have added the same URL version (either www or non-www) under Contributor to section in Google+ as the URL appears in SERPs
-You have attributed the Google+ link as author on your blog. i.e. <a href="https://plus.google.com/yourprofile" rel="author">. These small things also matter.

Yeah, I have all the links in place and the google tool that I mentioned in the first post also verifies that...

Told you so. Author stats will not show if your G+ is not in good standing. If you spam or have fake followers then its no good. There is no way to check this.

How much time does it take for the site`s traffic start to increase after authorship changes have been made?

Why would traffic increase just because you have added google authorship?
