My visitor stats have dropped by nearly 50% over the last week or so. Most of my visitors are from the US.

Most visitors arrive at my site via Google.

Has anyone else had the same issue?

Thanks in advance...

Are you doing anything Google would consider blackhat? Tactics like excessive link building or article spinning can get your sites penalized.

It's really hard to tell without knowing more details about your situation.

Keep in mind that kids are going back to school now. And the labor day holiday.

My traffic has been lighter this past week. Will probably pick up starting Tuesday.

Yeah, I was thinking (hoping) it was something to do with this. Perhaps everyone enjoying themselves outdoors while on vacation/holiday etc.

Hopefully it will pick up this week!

You only have 9 links in your signature. You will never rank that way. You must have at least 10.

You might want to consider waiting a bit since there is still holidays and stuff... but big spikes like that can happen . My website too goes crazy on the charts . So , I wouldn't worry to much about it.

Are you sure your website was not hit by Penguin? Or Blacklisted in Google? Did you check:

    site: yourdomain.com

If this is not the problem, then you should continue your SEO strategy and build a few quality backlinks, index them (you can ping those backlinks!) and wait for Google to index them!

Well, another couple of weeks have passed and daily visitors are still down almost 50%. In fact on Friday I only got 133 visitors to me site!

Ok. so I haven't added any more content to the site in about 62 months, but surely not adding content would not have such a detrimental affect on my visitor numbers??? Would it?

I meant 2 months, not 62 months, lol

Unique, fresh content added regularly and genuine back links should keep google happy. But traffic can dip due to many reasons... ultimately you need to market and not rely purely on organic search traffic as you are then at the mercy of Google!

Something serious is going on, there are blog posts where people are writing about getting unnatural link warnings for links from Yellowpages and DMOZ.

I admit that I made links that are scheme for passing PR juice (no blackhat), which now is against the policies. But on the other hand, it seems that they banned almost every kind of links which is hilarious.

I suppose Google will fix this update.

There are plenty of webmasters facing this problem. I have been looking multiple websites to find out the reason behind this but still unable to reach any logical/justifiable conclusion

I think it might happened due to recent Google Update on 12th of this month. My website rankings and traffic is showing down. But, if you did good and quality SEO work then your traffic will come back soon.
