        From my testing it most certainly does.

        If you are building a site for a brick&mortar or any business targeting UK residents specifically I would opt for the co.uk top level domain name.

        If however the site has an international audience I'd go with the .com.

            I'm not sure why, but for example - a competitor of mine has a .org website extension - his content is complete crap compared to mine - but he's much better ranked than me, all because I was stupid enough to buy a .biz extension So I guess it really really matters...

      The problem is that I thought that it's not possible to buy a .org extension if you're not someone official or something whatever... from the government etc. so I didn't even think about it. While this competitor of mine has really really lower quality and 10 times less content then me - he's still better ranked for the main keyword I'm going for - while we have the exact same domain name - just a different extension, and no, he doesn't have better quality links pointing toward him.

      If you're making I guess it's just very important that your blogs name is the same as your keyword - I think that the name of the website is actually incredibly important - it needs a name that's easily "remember-able" (i don't know if that word exists)... anyway you should check out Get Rich Slowly I think the entire website talks about why it's important to have a .com extension and how important the name of the website is.

      Good luck,
      Jack

        Anyone can register a .org.

        I'm also willing to bet that your competitor out ranking you has little or nothing to do with your top level domain name (although I would take a .org over a .biz)

        My recommendation? check out his link profile.

        As for Ant West:

        If you want to "create a huge army of readers", you're probably going to want to build a solid (if possible international) brand.

        My recommendation is still get the .com.

        If you're really serious about it I'd pick up the .net and .org as well. Then if your blog DOES blow up you don't have to deal with squatters in the future. It's a small investment now that could save you a great deal of hassle later.

        Best of luck to you.
        Alex

    org = for organization
    co.uk = corporate united kingdom
    com = commercial

    it's depends on your need.

    if you want to make a site for commercial like google adsense, online shop, or other paid program, i think user .com domain
