Internal Linking - Better Below Content or in the Sidebar?

Or does this even make a difference?

The only reason why I would place internal links in the sidebar is because it looks better and there's a strong call to action at the bottom of the page, so I would prefer users to click the link rather than hanging around.

Having said that, is there any real advantage to placing links below the content?

    It really depends what you are linking to and for what purpose. If it's keyword related I would usually use a contextual link inside the content. Otherwise if its just linking to other relevant content then side bar should be fine.
