Hi,

so I am wondering is it smart to use facebook ads to build an email list? I want to build a list and then promote a membership site I created to this niche in the relationship niche. Would this work or is this traffic only good for cpa offers? Thanks

You can pretty much build a list with any type of traffic. The question is - will it be a quality list?? A buyers list etc..??

Are you giving away a freebie?
Do you have a front end low ticket product?

So to answer your question, you can absolutely build a list with Facebook Ads!!

I plan on giving away something for free via my fan page. I hear about cheap clicks to a fanpage.

Sure if you can keep it targeted enough and keep your costs low...give it a try. The best thing about facebook ads is you can do short inexpensive runs to test things out and see.

I think its a great strategy though might be a bit costly.

It's better to drive to traffic to your fanpage first
and from there get them to optin to your squeeze page .
You can set it up with a static html app
You will cheaper clicks that way.
Facebook wants you to advertise inside FB

Not necessarily. You can get cheaper clicks, but how many of those clicks end up going to your squeeze page.. then how many of those sign up.

It depends on your niche, your offer, your ad itself, etc.

A car loan fan page for example would not get much traction compared to a gun rights page... Car loan prospects aren't joining your page to be a part of a community like the gun rights niche. So they won't interact with your posts... bringing down your EdgeRank and overall decreasing the amount of people who see your posts (aka less chance to join your list).

Send those car loan prospects straight to a squeeze page though and you are building the sales asset you're going for.

To your orignial question, yes FB PPC is a gret way to build a list.

With LeadPages you can actually set up a squeeze page within FB. Problem solved, cheap clicks and your squeeze page right on FB.

I have friends who have made this work to the tune of thousands of dollars every month.

They have fan pages that cater to "VERY" passionate people such as dogs lovers, or green smoothy drinks, or they cater to VERY controversial subjects such as pit bulls, gun control, or cannabis (marijuana substitute).

Their fan base is very passionate, and they add content to the fan pages constantly. My friends capture emails. Use the "Testimonial" that seem to effortlessly come into their fan page for their emails, and pitch several products in their niches.

I have not been incredibly successful with the model. I believe that I haven't found a broad enough, passionate enough niche to pursue. But, I have seen others that have found the holy grail.

I think, just don't put all of your eggs in one basket. Use face book as one place to get opt-ins, but find a number of other ways to get opt-ins as well.

You listed five niches in your post... why not start there. One of my major income streams in 2013 is the model you just explained. It's a very powerful autopilot income system.

Build page -> Buy FB Traffic -> Post consistent messages on wall that send viewers to your list --> sell stuff -> Rinse and Repeat

Here's an example page of ours that does really well even for having a low fan base -> https://www.facebook.com/OnlyNurses
