Is this a stupid idea?

Hey all,

I've got a question, it may seem stupid to most of you but here goes.

I've got a site where I do reviews amongst other things. Thing is I'm trying to get some good back links so I'm searching for some high page rank sites to leave a link.

Is it a good idea to write a review on a product on amazon (a basic one) and then leave a link to mine at the end? Is this good for SEO? Or am I wasting my time?

What do you think? Anyone doing this?

  • Fitnesschap,

When looking for places to build good links from, don't base your research solely on PR. I'm not sure if you do, or don't, but pay attention to the website as a community in whole.

Search only for reputable, established communities with a fair deal of traffic. Also pay attention to all the metrics, not only pagerank - domain authority and actual page rank are equally good indicators of the website's quality. If you are looking for killer links than the actual page rank is even more important than the page rank of website's index domain.

And make sure to find websites within the same niche as your's and publish there. Don't just choose websites randomly. Once your guest posts are published don't just forget about them. Build links to your guest posts as if it was your own website. This will improve the actual page rank and give more authority to your link. Share it across the social media and if there is an option, respond the comments regularly. I believe a good link is worth gold, it really pays back.

  • Writing reviews of a product is always important it helps you with your efforts. It is an effective promotional tool for affiliates
  • It's not stupid. But like the other poster said Amazon will remove the link in time. I've experienced it myself so it's a waste of time to do so.
