is it normal for google to index a new squidoo lense then de index the same lense a few days later? I ask this because i tried a few lenses and after getting indexed they are now de indexed only a few days later.I am new to the squidoo thing and have always made my own sites and blogs and have never had this happen to one of my own sites before??

I did nothing spammy except submit some RSS submissions and a article at go articles but they just do not show up anymore when i check for them.

I am starting to get the impression that google is treating squidoo more like digg now. It gets indexed when it is new, but then falls off the radar. I think if you have some links pointing to the squidoo page, it will be more likely to stay indexed for a long time.

It is okay to contact me! I have been developing software since 1999, creating many popular products like phpLD.

It is important to remember that
Squidoo is not the only SEO juicy
    website out there.
    Some websites are considered more
    SEO juicy then others..
My squidoo lenses stay where they are
for quite some time now, with no intention to move.

It is true that squidoo is less powerful than it use to be and for me i use squidoo just to pull traffic from squidoo itself rather than try and rank them anymore as honestly i would rather write an article for ezine articles and have that rank highly without 100's of backlinks like with squidoo.

It still has its uses but not as good as it use to be unfortunatly.

    Yes, this is quite normal.

New lenses get indexed and rank well for a few days, and then get dropped.
They will usually return to the SERPs again once Google's decided where it should be ranked.

Keep working on getting backlinks to the lens, and keeping the content fresh.

This is true. They'll come back soon. This does happen with new sites too. Can take upto a few days to return.

This is a little long winded and not written as well
    as I liked.

I use squidoo extensively, and have found sites that
are on a popular topic, get indexed and stay indexed,
and stay high. I can only give my examples.
My squidoo sarah palin trivia page,
    Sarah Palin Facts and Trivia
Has been #1 on google for sarah palin trivia for
    at least 6 months.
    My most recent squidoo page,
    Baseball and Steroids
is I think on the first page of google now after
roughly 2 weeks for baseball and steroids.
I think last time I checked it was the 22nd site listed.

The problem I see with squidoo, is that it is really a
popularity contest as far as google sees. What I mean
by that is, you live and die by popular search terms.
I have never heard anyone here or elsewhere explain
about the popular search term thing. Does a popular
search term add to your SEO and SERP if more people
are searching for that term? (Yes I know if it SEO's
for that term then the term search is obvious)
Maybe I can rephrase. There are tons of sarah palin
dot coms, but my squidoo is numero uno for those terms.
There has to be something about squidoo.
(Whether you like her or hate her, she is a powerful
search term. I learned to use things I like and don't like)

I made a Yuto Miyazawa squidoo lens a long time ago that
got absolutely no visitors. The past week, he visited New York
and was on Ellen. My squidoo lens shot way up. I did not know
why until I did the search as to what was up with him.
If you have no idea who Yuto is, he is a 9 year old guitar
god. I did the lens on him thinking he may be valuable later on.
I struck on him early, and it's paying off.

Another way to phrase my question or comment is, if one has
a site that shoots to the top via being SEO'd for a new popular
search term, does it help it now for less popular terms?

I cannot stress how I love squidoo. I wish I could do with squidoo
on my dot coms. Frustrating to be able to shoot the moon with
    squidoo only.
