Does having outgoing links from an article post whether it be to an external site or an internal page detract from the link juice of a keyword for that page?

ie; If I have a post targeting the keyword "blue widgets" and there are links on that post that point to other pages or even websites.. does the link juice for "blue widgets" to my post decrease?

Does it make a difference what the anchor text is? If I have a link using the anchor "blue widgets" on my post and pointing somewhere else... is that even worse?

So.. if I want that post to rank for "blue widgets" then I shouldn't link out from that post using the anchor "blue widgets"... is that right?

Maybe I shouldn't link out to anywhere at all no matter what the anchor text is.. is that right?

Linking out is a good thing if you are linking to additional resources/authority sites.

Don't worry about hoarding link juice, it's divided up between all the links on your page whether they lead off your site or whether they are internal links that lead to another page of your site. Incoming link juice via backlinks can get you ranked but once it hits your page you can spend it however you wish (unless you are going to link out to a bunch of spam sites because that can potentially hurt your rankings. Link out to good quality sites and relax

Vishall- you better not let the mods see you

Linking out to other sites is okay to do, but remember that you'll be passing PageRank to the page you're linking to.

If you don't want to pass PageRank then add a rel="nofollow" tag to the link syntax.

Nofollow is fine, but it still bleeds the PR through the link. It doesn't conserve it on the page. Really nofollow should pretty much only be used on ads.
