Not too shabby, just one wordpress blog with the long tail keywords in the title, and a couple relevant posts. No back links, just social bookmarking links to get it indexed. Its only out of 171K results (broad match) but I was pleasantly surprised in way less than 24 hrs. With some back links should get #1 no worries I would think. Its a product name so hopefuly it will make a few dollars. Just thought I would post here as there are so many helpful people on here. The funny thing is that Im exactly same position for both exact and broad match, why would that be?
anyway, thought I would share as this is such a kick ass board

Thanks guys, yeh, its pretty nice, I just have to work out how to do it with some more kw terms and try to make some money. It was on a bunch of sites like the only wire ones. Definitely get the all in one seo plugin if you run wordpress as its really a must for wp blogs.

Keep up with the backlinks. I don't want to rain on your parade but you'll drop right down after a day or so. People call this the 'Google Dance'.

But if you make steady progress with backlinks, you should stay up there.

This is soooo true. One of my sites disappeared in a few days after I slacked off. I guess the key is to really keep on working on those links every single day. Tough work though.

I agree with CBSnooper. My newly discovered pages always hit page one top five (mid to long tail terms) within roughly eight hours, but then they disappear after a few days once they start to go through the indexing process. If I build backlinks, I can get them back on page one, but it's no guarantee.

I experience the same regularly, but there's a bright spot.

If you get that high entry into google, you did your homework and you have good implementation. Now the work begins to earn that spot through constant backlinking, social networking and BACKLINKING.

Nice to see it get there that quickly, but as others have pointed out you can expect to drop pretty quickly once Google stops giving that nice little boost they give new sites. Don't get carried away and start forcing the process by building backlinks too quickly. That will land you in the sandbox (personal experience talking here), and could mean months of little or no earnings.

I've seen someone get to #1 on Google in Local results (70,000) in 8 minutes, and stay in the top 3 in a very profitable niche, very profitable.

      8 minutes

Let's just say you need video ;-)

All comes down to the plugins. 2 hours is not uncommon either.

Well, the social bookmarking is very important and I also have the all in one seo plugin and also the google sitemap generator. That and the fact that the long tail kw was EXACTLY the same as the domain has a lot to do with it. Im keen to know about the 8 minutes dude, what niche was that and any tips how they stayed there or was it basically based on backlinks?

Great job! Now, you're next pretty tough job is too target highly searched keywords. In this case, you are required to build links pointing on that particular page. SB won't be enough in that scenario.
