EMD + Great content = 1st Page

Hi Guys,

I have good experience optimizing long tail keywords, through optimised quality content and images on my current entertainment websites.

But now I have decided to try something new: ranking a EMD (.net) domain with 60500 exact match searches (monthly) and high competition.

My strategy will be the following: 5 daily articles with 250-450 words and 2-4 images. Naturally, I'll update with unique and relevant content with qualified keywords. Besides that, I generate a large amount of traffic through social media through big fanpages.

The EMD is a threewordEMD.net. My two other sites (both 14 month old) generates 700-1000 daily organic visits (long tail), through 1 page ranked articles.

How long do you think it will take me to rank my three word keywords EMD domain on Google's 1st page?
#1st #content #emd #great #page

More like: Links + Optimized text = 1st Page

The great content is needed for retaining traffic.

      This is the real advice.

Links and optimized site not great content.

Without having backlinks? If the competition is too low then it might be possible but I don't think without making some backlinks you can roll the ball.

Well, I've linked to the site from 4 sites with + 100.000 monthly visits and we will make referral links (to our own site/articles) in most of the content we produce.

How many external backlinks do you think it would take to get on Google's 1st page? Considering PR 2 and 4 websites.

      Thanks

Unfortunately no one can give you exact figure for this. Number of required backlinks will depend on competition mostly.

Exactly. People keep on asking this things that how many links is needed to outrank this site or this keyword? There is no exact figure. The most important part to get ranking is to have good backlink profile with high quality content. It depends on you, how you use this formula.

Sometimes, all it can take is five to ten high quality, relevant backlinks. But we cannot know from the outset. You need to experiment a lot.

My first question would be, is the term brand-able? If you can get Google to see it as a brand you will be in better luck. However, if you can't then may the force be with you!

In my experience, it doesn't have to sound like brand. Just getting the name out there in links, etc that brands typically get will send the flag to Google that it's a brand.

You might be asking, what links do I get to make my site look like a brand? Well, look at some brands you know within Google search results. You might see a Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Crunch Base profile, etc.

Good luck, if you have any questions hit me up.

      Hey!

The domain name is VERY brand-able, and the site has a very unique visual identity, besides the unique quality content.

I agree to some extent here. Content can only do so much, really don't believe all the crap you here. It's still very much about links.

Yes, it's in a very competitive field.

Besides the 5 daily articles, how many backlinks will get me competing?

The quality of the links is more important than the quantity of links. How many quality links you need depends on how strong the #1 ranked page is in Google SERPs.

Okay - I have a question to that.

Let's say two websites with PR 4 links to my homepage:

Site 1) A link through a button with link in the partners section

Site 2) Makes an article about my website.

Both with have 1 hyperlink linking to my site. Would you then consider the second option better in terms of SEO? Or is the value of a link the same?

Use competitors back link source. Check from where they are getting their back link. Try to use it. And also for me Tier link wheel is important methods for generating natural back link right now. But you need to invest your content here also.

      Very direct.

No need for backlinks, in your opinion? Just quality content and onpage SEO?

In my philosophy I would allow it to take a year. Yep, I'd be adding very good backlinks and I'd be trying to prove that site out (like proving dough in a warm oven) to be a long term player. I'd take it slowly. I'd have no rush to rank this thing in a month.

All depends on the PR and links to the first page of Google SERP to kknow what it MIGHT take to get you on that page.

I would say you are going to need some high PR links to your site/pages to see them rank. May be 5,10,50, who knows, but I would say more towards the higher than the lower. I may have even undershot it with all of those numbers. No way to know. Only google knows, and they ain't saying.

Generally, you need 1 - 3 months to see the top ranking by SEO off page (backlining). But Google recently launched Penguin 5 (aka 2.1) update for fighting spammers.

    Good luck.

Make a spreadsheet with the best links from the top 10 ranking sites.

Then get to work. Lots of (good) content. Lots of good links. Thats the only way to rank for the high volume competitive terms.
