Lead Magnet Adwords Ads

Does Google still allow advertisers to offer a free report or other lead magnet in adwords ads? Or is it not allowed or frowned upon?

I've got a car dealer I'm working with and was planning on recommending doing an ad like: "Free report: 10 things most dealers won't tell you when buying a car"

These types of ads used to work well but I've been out of the loop and not sure how Google looks at these types of ads these days.

Any insight is appreciated.

I suppose it would depend on how it's offered. If the free report
is actually a webpage, it would probably pass. If you are requiring
people to give an email address to get it, probably not.

Free Gifts: The type of websites that are not allowed includes but is not limited to websites offering free gifts or other incentives in exchange for personal information. We refer to this practice as "information harvesting." Examples of free gifts or incentives include prizes, offers, videos, eBooks, and quiz/survey results.
You can have some opt in on your page, but you would need to follow
the rules of harvesting emails using adwords.

I might change the whole thinking. Change the ad to:
"10 things most dealers won't tell you when buying a car"

Provide 10 things, then somewhere on the page have a "get more" button.

Your primary purpose cannot be for harvesting emails or personal info.
The "get more" would be mundane looking, among other "content."

It has little to do with how it is offered, and everything to do with the content of the landing page.

You can run lead generation all day on AdWords.

      Repeat, you cannot:

Yoiu can offer free tips, etc. for a site like kbb. You don't have to give personal
info to get the free "reports." But you can click on links and get car quotes, complete
      with personal info.

And you need to read the rules about harvesting emails and personal info.

There are ad extensions that let people type their email into an ad, or
even dial a number, among other things. But those are different than
      people offering a free "report."

The bottom line is you cannot harvest emails for a free report.

There are plenty of ways around it and google is quite vague on options
that are allowed. BUT....google is cracking down on IMers harvesting emails.
An real insurance agency/broker is not "IM."

One thing you can do is just not offer anything free for an email as I stated in
my first reply. People might give the option to become "members" of the site.

If you flat out state you are giving away something free with an email,
(going back to the top of this reply), that is indeed not allowed.

Ok, so you can't just send them to a squeeze page with an optin.
