Using mysite.wordpress.com for easy seo?

If i am going to have a blog/site that is as follows

mygreatsite.wordpress.com/great-product-offer

or if it is just a sales page like salespage.wordpress.com

Would above be better from SEO perspective than having
mygreatsite.com/great-product-offer :confused:

Will i be able to avoid google penalties since the main domain is high authority?
Will sending links to wordpress urls be safer than just a new domain?

      Those things have nothing to do with each other.

      If you built a blogspot your sub-domain wouldn't have anything to do with the root domain (PR9) as far as SEO. Same goes for any other sub-domain.

      Good luck with a sales page on a Wordpress sub-domain, odds are it will get deleted.
    • Depends what you mean by 'bunch of links' pointing to it. Any page will get slapped no matter what the domain's authority is if you just blast junk at it. If you have links from that page pointing to your site, there's less risk of your site itself getting slapped. Although been reading lately about possible penalties filtering down to your site as well. All in all, I think that blasting nonsensical links has finally seen an end with penguin 2.1.

      Will Google not penalize the url with bad backlinks if its located on high pr domain for example

    • Never build your business at a third party platform. You never know when it will get deleted.

    • I seriously doubt it, how can a third party platform is given more importance over true ones.
      You can never be sure if your site is going to be there for longer period of time.

      and as the google penalty goes, you can't see it coming, you know about it when it strikes.
