Just found some tasty KW terms with squidoo lenses near the top of SERP.

But, what if the lense is removed, deleted, hacked or whatever, what if something happes to squidoo? What do you guys think of the system of building all your backlinks to point to a web 2.0 page like squidoo?
I know the power of squidoo is currently pretty high, but I think its putting all your eggs in one basket and one basket you dont own.
What do others think?

Think you answered your own question, there is always that chance that your hard work is gone in an instant. Depends on if you want to take the risk. No one can answer that question for you. Though, I have'nt heard of many lens getting zapped. Wordpress is another story.

On the other hand, you'd probably have a better chance of something like a squidoo lens ranking faster and higher, v.s. going with your own domain. Like you said, the power is there.

Long term, you always want to build links for your own domains / sites. It's like real estate. Why paint somebody elses house when you have your own to do.

However, by also building a few links to your lenses and articles etc you're building authority for those pages which in turn will strengthen the links you have on those pages pointing to your site.

Do both with the emphasis on your own sites pages.
