Hey all,

I'm trying to rank for a phrase and there's low competition. The thing is the websites that are ranking for that phrase on the 1st,2nd and 3rd page of results are not optimised for seo or have good content.

So y r they ranking so high? Is it the age of the articles?
#high #pages or sites #ranked #rubbish

If there's not a lot of content out there, then maybe that's some of the best stuff available.

Is your site new? Maybe it will naturally float to the top after a while.

The definiton of a rubbish page is as follows:

      "Any page that beats mine."

It's gotta be rubbish, cuz I know I made the best page out there and google
      must put it first.

Returning blank search page results is a bad user experience.

How do you expect your one-week article beat those websites which may have been on the front page of Google for months and even years? Although since the latest Google updates, some inconsistencies and wild dances have been temporarily noticed in certain niches, but because you don't know what your competitors are doing may not be the reason to judge their works quickly. Try to promote your web contents through links, wait and see how your website moves up or down in the near future.

I don't expect to see them beat them yet, I never said that. What I asked was how can such thin content rank #1. And I was asking for opinions why.

For example could it be the age of the page?

Or has that website just built some solid backlinks to get it there.

I'm just trying to find out what it could be down to.

Yeah! I agree it may be one of the reason, but I think the Google is forget to take out the trash.

There are many factors for that, but I think it could be the quality of backlinks pointing to those pages which made them rank well. Backlinks are considered trust rates, if they come from high pr authority sites then probably it would be like a big vote for a ranking page even though the page is not properly optimized.

It is true that "rubbish" pages rank high, but may be they are from high authority sites and obviously they have good quality links, and I know really it is frustrating when a poor quality content rank high than ours, which is probably way much better than that.

What are you searching for? When I search I see authority type of sites 95% of the time.

Are you promoting some click bank garbage or something, if so what makes you think that your garbage site is better then theirs?

If there is not good content in those sites then you can rank your site above those sites. They are ranking well because there might not be enough sites publishing articles in that niche.

Age is one of the thing. Due to age Google is showing more trust on those pages. You just focus on Good SEO practices and surely you will beat them sooner.

The reason they are ranking without having good and enough content, might be they have good natural backlinks,
and as you said it's a low competition.
