Link Building Still In Use?

As Google's Latest Updates impacting our rankings...
I just want to know our old link building strategies such as social bookmarking, directory submission still in use???

    • In theory link building is against the Google TOS, in real life Google still counts links as a vote for your site. The type of links you send to your page will either penalize or increase your ranking.

      Before this update I could rank some pages just by doing manual comments on good PR related pages. Not sure that will work anymore.

      If you are talking about automatic submissions to does type of sites , I would not recommend it. (especially not the Fivrr ones)

      I do not think you will be penalized for manual submission to the good sites, but you are not going to rank only with those backlinks.

  • Of course they works. But you should make them look natural. Building hundreds of them within 1-2 days, will definitely hurt you. Also, it is important to choose the place wisely where you will be building the links.

    Don't buy the Google talking heads, linking is the most powerful thing if done correctly.

    Everyone is saying backlinks still work & I agree, but OP is talking about social bookmarking, directory submission. I'm sure that directory submission is code talk for any free directory that will let a link stick.

    Build quality links, forget the nonsense links.

    Rule of thumb for building links, the easier it is to get the link, the crappier the link quality is for SEO.
