Hey guys,

I am curious what is the best SEO software for competitor analysis?

Everything I have tried so far doesn't actually show me the sites currently linking to my competitors pages. I get some of them, but a lot of them show BS sites.

What is, in your opinion, the best software to show me exactly who links to my competitor so I can approach them for a link?

I like long tail pro - awesome keyword competition metrics and if you know what to look for and you add some high quality links, I've found it extremely easy to rank using their KC metric.

I personally use Long Tail Pro for most analysis however It's not all done with software. LTP is brilliant for getting certain metrics about websites but it is also important to then manually look at those websites and see what sort of content they have, their site structure etc, to get a relevant idea of what is required to compete with them.

You're asking for 2 completely different set of features here :-
1. Competition analysis
2. Link outreach

Until now, I still haven't find a tool that can perform both of these tasks under 1 roof but separately...

For competition analysis,
Ultimate Niche Finder is what I use. Well for some people who like to spend more, Moz can do it for you at a more expensive price and slower If you're looking for an even slower software for this: Market Samurai.

For link outreach,
BuzzStream and Link Assistant are the 2 perfect tools for this task. Looking for a free option? Well, Gmail + Boomerang plugin.

  Agreed and agreed - GSA SER is like a dream machine but it's a LONG learning curve to learn how to use it properly, and actually benefit from it - most users don't know how and they just get themselves penalized by Google.

  I used to, then I realized how much time everything was taking. My time's worth more to me than to be sitting around doing it manually or paying someone to do it. I've always done it so the content was good, and links were slow and quality.

You would still need a great deal of expertise to perform effective SEO competition analysis.
Anyhow, when it comes to backlink research, I use a combination of tools, because I'm yet to find my perfect backlink checker.

What I currently use is Magestic and SEO spyglass.

I have used GSA SER and Market Samurai before and both worked amazingly. However, I just stick to Google Keyword Planner now. I really find it simpler. Well, if you have the time to do so, you can perform the keyword analysis and research yourself. Or you can just ask of the help of SEO agencies. Most of them all the tools that anyone needs to come up with the best results.

I don't believe any SEO software, like to do experiment and use the google planner and it really good. But if you want to use then go with longtailpro.

Market samurai or long tail pro or keyword snatcher. Whatever the soft you use. But you suppose to know how to use. So you can rock! Having the soft wont give you anything. You have to know the better way of using it!!

Hey I don't see any answer about Traffic Travis 4. You simply have to try this program out, it has an Free and Premium version, and the free one for basic use and learning the program suits perfectly. Traffic Travis has build in Tutorials which will guide you with videos through it.

It is a really great alternative for premium programs like Market Samurai, be sure to check it.

Majestic is fantastic. If you get the year up front, the monthly cost goes down to $40 per month (if I remember correctly). It's just an indispensable tool. And you can supplement that with the free features on Ahrefs and OSE.

Market Samurai or Traffic Travis for keyword/link checking etc. What about Scrapebox? What exactly you do with the software will play a big role in which one is best for you. I personally use Market Samurai and Traffic Travis.

Well, i would suggest you to try using the Webmeup and the ahrefs, i found these two one of the most activate and preferable in looking down to you're on/off page needs they are well civilized means they possess user friendly interface and even a kid can easily handle. Go for it ... it will not only help you in analyzing the position of your site but it will also give a chance to get inside the page of the competitor. These tools will give you the ability to analyze your competitor - where he is posting, where he is building link, what is the position of his keyword, etc .... after all in order to beat others from the market of the users you need to have a look on the competitors.

I agree with Farrel (@promo87) WebMeUp is a great tool for onsite analyzes.

I use the app to optimize my site content and check the site for different SEO issues. The tool has advanced SEO audit module that detects all site's structure and coding errors and tells how to fix them. Also, you can use the tool for lots of other important SEO activities. As for Ahrefs, it's a great app for monitoring site backlinks, but it's rather expensive for me and my needs.

For offpage SEO I'd recommend SEO SpyGlass (by link-assistant.com, or Backlink Watch (backlinkwatch.com).
