Help with manual link building for celebrity gossip site

This is what i've tried:
1. Contacting similar blogs and asking for link exchange - no responses
2. Finding celeb forums to post - most don't allow links for new members
3. Post commenting - most don't take urls

Appreciate more suggestions on what I can do? Tks.

      I think this is a category which you can cross-market in many niches.
      Do you already have backlinks from youtube, twitter, bookmarking sites, facebook...

    1. Don't ask for link exchange.Try to find a different tactic for guest posts.There are plenty of tuts on the forum or just do a google search on how to do guest posting.

    2.Forums are still good.But try to contribute something of value.Make quality posts and then put your links in the signature.If you just join and drop your link it won't be useful.

    3.Blog comments still work too.But don't spam though.You won't get your comment approved on some sites if you just do pure spam.

    Also since your site is a celeb. gossip site try and do some social marketing on twitter,g+,facebook and others.

    I see your post is about celeb gossip it mean social network.So try to promote your blog on Social Bookmarking site and also try paid blog post if you want more traffic then start building your list with the help of squeeze page buy some solo ad an when you reach at least 500 subscribers then you are able to so swaps..

    content - make a list of good content and then approach with it to blogs who have some traffic.
    find for forums first start discussion then put your link in signature.

    Find sites that can be related, such as fashion, make-up, travel, etc.

    Write some content first around a killer idea, and really make it good content. For instance (off the top of my head), say Miley Cyrus went to, I don't know, Cape Town, South Africa for a vacation. Write an article about the top 5 places she went, what they are like (do your research), and etc., and then find travel sites willing to publish your content (because a) it's related to their niche, and b) it's interesting and different).

    The other celebrity sites have their own content... anything else would be redundant. Sites in other niches may be looking for fresh perspectives, and may be more open to guest posts that feature content related to your niche. It'll at least be unique!

    As you said, links are not allowed from new members on forums and blogs, you need someone who has these rights. Similarly, there are freelancers who regularly do guest posting. They can do this for you. Such freelancers can be hired from freelance sites of which I prefer SEOClerks. Besides this social networks like Facebook could be very beneficial for your site. Join some groups of similar interest and participate.

    I would rather focus more on content marketing like guest posting and posting articles to private network blogs then would really become active in social media marketing. I would not bother doing link exchange as this may no longer be advised to do after the post panda-penguin era.

    However, I see you can always get direct visits through social media sites once you've figured out how to make your content viral.
