Adwords Ad Writing Software?

Hi,
A client has asked me to do some Adwords ads, which I'd rather not but he's a good client.
Yeah, have told him he needs an expert team, but he wants me to do it.
Thing is, I hate messing around counting freakin characters and all that. What I'm looking for is something like this:
Ad Word Assistant - Adwords Software - Adword Software
But that site is dead, download links don't work, even the order page doesn't work.
I'm NOT looking for some all-singing thing that will superturborocketboost my profits by homing in like a heat seeking missile on the hidden riches I never even knew existed, just something that will count the freakin' characters as I type and show me what the ad will look like?
It's been a few years since I did much with Adwords but I thought there were loads of little tools like this around?
