How to drive traffics for affiliate marketing?

There is something I really need to make it clear. I am a bit confused when it comes to SEO and affiliate marketing. I'm just unable to differentiate it till now.

How does one (who are doing affiliate marketing) drives a traffics to his landing page/website without relying on the PPC or paid services?

With the help of SEO? Building backlinks to the landing page/website? What I mean is, I always under the impression that SEO is for adsense module, but does this also applied to affiliate marketing too?

I know it was confusing, but I hope you guys understand what i am trying to say here.

    well you can also drive traffic to your website through article marketing...write some articles and submit on the famous directory and put your website link at the end...

    you can also leave comments on the relevant website and refer your website there.

    SEO is a method of optimizing your site with your keywords and ranking for it too.

    SEO and adsense are two different ball game. You are likely mixing them up because adsense site needs organic traffic from SEO to make money, since that is the practice is been preached like religion and it stuck in you wrongly.

    As an affiliate marketer with a landing page you are expected to drive targeted traffic to it before you make money.

    Optimize your site for your keywords which should be related to your products and rank your pages for the keywords on Google in order to get the targeted traffic.

    Other ways to get the best from affiliate marketing is email marketing and video marketing.

      Make sure your landing page has good content that people want to read. Does it the page scan well. Is there are call to action above the fold? Make sure you landing page is set up to convert.

      Others have spoken about what SEO but you ask how do I drive traffic for affiliate marketing?

      - Good content on your site
      - Social media (accounts on Twitter, Facebook, Pintrest and Google Plus)
      - Guest blogging (write for sites related to your niche)
      - Article directories (for the chance of having articles/content republished)
      - Youtube, Daily Motion etc (turn your content into videos)
      - Keep adding backlinks to your site regularly and try and fresh content to your site.

      Don't get too hung up on SEO there are other ways to get traffic to your site other than from organic search results. If you use good practices as mentioned above to get traffic. Google should take notice anyway.
