Bought a site - how to clean up links?

Hello,

I just bought one site for $1000 since the domain name was really catchy and the content was fairly good.

I'm not going to do much SEO on this site since it's going straight into Google Adwords, but the site itself is in the niche that attracts a lot of natural backlinks. So if I'm at the top of adwords, I'll will probably start to receive 5-10 natural links per month.

Currently it has 50% legit links, 50% blog comments. It ranks pretty good, but I have guts that it will drop sooner or later. The very first thing I would like to do is get rid of those blog comments links. At first I'll try to do this manually (it only has 200 links, 100 of them are blog comments), if that doesn't work out I would just throw the list into disavow tool.

Any other suggestions/recommendations?

If you can, try and delete the pages the links are coming into, has the same effect as removing the link...

If it only has 200 links, I wouldn't even worry about it. Are the blog comments crazy spammy, like auto-approve comments on pages with hundreds to thousands of out bound links? If so, then I understand why you'd want to but honestly with such a small number of links, I wouldn't worry about it much.

Definitely try to get the links removed.

But the first thing you want to do to check if it's ranking for any low competition keywords. If so, then it's no biggie if you can't get them removed.

If not, do your best to clean up the link profile. I've found that most blog comment spam tends to come from the same set of domains. So if you have 100 blog comments, 90 probably come from 5-10 sites. Makes the link removal process easier.

Nooooo Disavow is Google's honey pot. Give an honest go at getting them removed if you can then I'd start slowly building good quality links to dilute them a bit. There aren't a ton, you should be fine

Use a service like linkdelete, they'll clean up the links for you.

Otherwise its a long process but you should do it so tha tyou start on a good foundation for your future seo campaigns.

I wouldn't worry about it as much. Build strong quality links and the "bad" ones won't hurt you.

Remember to remove internal links that point to any deleted pages and if you are going to delete a large number of pages I'd try and get those deindexed too, no point having too many 404s popping on your site suddenly.

First of all, try to look at those comments if they are useful or not. If they are relevant to your niche and the post was informative then I wouldn't mind them at all. But if they are crazy spammy, then try to contact the webmaster of that blog and state an honest point of why you wanted to remove that comment, since you are a new owner of the site. If no one responded, try doing Disavow in Google Webmaster. It will take like 2-3 weeks to be removed.

The last thing would be deleting the pages that points to that comment, like any other guys stated here. Try not to ignore doing SEO on your site even it will go straight to Adwords, little things can still be an important factor.
