Mystery backlinks

Hi guys,

After checking my Webmaster Tools account it came to my attention that I have 122 backlinks from hxxp://ardgayanddistrictcommunitycouncil.org.uk

I wouldn't have a clue how that came about more strangely, I cannot for the life of me find where my link are inserted. Following Webmaster Tools to the pages supposedly harboring my link yields no result. No traces of any links pointing to me from this website.

Even checking the source and using Control-F to do a search for my domain.

Any ideas what's going on?

  • Have you used any SEO services lately?
  • Someone left a comment with a link back to your site. It appeared on the right sidebar "latest comments" and therefore spread across all of the pages.

    No need to worry, it's just 1 link and now it's probably gone. But keep in mind that blog comments is not a way to rank a site.

    • Why not? Can you please explain? Which backlinking processes are the correct ways to rank a site? It will help us a lot.

  • This happens very often when you don't have a clue where the heck these links come from. That's why you should always keep an eye on them and remove any suspicious link immediately.
