My Google Appeal Went Through!!!

I'd previously posted a thread titled my $18,000 mistake.

Well, out of desperation I resubmitted my appeal to Google and low and behold, the site is being hosted again!

I have to get to work on this right away! The site looks like hell, but I think that I can fix it up in a couple of weeks. I don't know what to do about the indexing situation...

20,000 pages dropped from the search results. I'm assuming that if I create some backlinks that I can get it re-indexed now that it is hosted.

I guess that only time will tell.

Google no longer allows you to put Google Adsense ads on websites that are built on the Google Sites platform.

I'm going to have to make sure that I don't remove any of the ads that are on the site because if I do, I can't put them back which is pretty crummy because the ad placements are really in your face....

but whatever, I'll have to work with it.

If the Google Sites web site isn't indexed, now's the perfect time time to start a new domain with a paid host.

Maybe start a new site (self hosted), remove all traces of Adsense on the Google Sites web site, then forward any traffic on the Google Sites website to the new domain that would be running Adsense.

If Google is locking up the ads on Google Sites, you'll never be able to make changes (I guess) which isn't a good thing IMO.

That's a good point about OPs site & the images, the other thread was all about the images.

Google Sites is an old blogging platform that Google started a few years back, it's a reminder of what 1997 looked like, lol. Seriously, it was never impressive, though I do have a couple of those sites still attached to an old Google account.

Hmm odd, you would've thought they abandoned it when they came up with Blogspot.

Looks about as worse as Nucleus, B2Evolution and such.

Isn't that the truth. The site that I made is hideous... it got 2 million hits though. They are well optimized.

I haven't changed any of the images. I really don't understand what the issue was. When it happened, a message popped up at the top of the page when I accessed it that said something like, "this site is no longer available due to a violation" and there was a link next to it that said, "appeal".

When you click the link, a page pops up that says click here to appeal this decision.

This is about the 4th or 5th time that this has happened. They always make the site available to visitors after I appeal it, but I have no idea what the violation is. It's very frustrating.

Didn't you provide the answer here yourself?

"Google no longer allows you to put Google Adsense ads on websites that are built on the Google Sites platform."

I found Google Sites by complete accident. I was using a keyword suggestion tool and noticed that it was a popular word, so I punched it into Google and there it was.

I am currently editing the site. I just finished up with the Audi section. The site looks pretty bad as far as cosmetics go, but I'm working on it. I haven't deleted the images though. I did add a caption in the footer explaining that they came from wikipedia.

Who did you contact (contact info) to get this accomplished?

Dude seriously I saw your other thread, take the time to buy a new domain and put the content there.

I would never use a "free" platform for any site that made any sort of money, especially considering from what I read in your other thread that you are dependent on this site.

I've tried quoting 3 different responses in this thread and they didn't post... I don't know what's up but I'll answer you all the old fashioned way.

I haven't changed anything on the site as far as images. I don't know if one person makes the decision to reinstate availability to guests or what is going on there??? It may just depend on who reviews the appeal?

There are no pages currently indexed and I think that paid hosting is something that I'm going to pursue. I'm really tired of Go Daddy though. My hosting account just expired so I'll do some research on that and decide what host I'm going to use. I've been with them for years and I've heard that they are one of the most confusing hosting providers.

Tho only reason that I didn't host it to begin with was because it started getting awesome traffic suddenly(unknowingly actually) and I didn't want to screw it up, so I left it. I didn't even know that it was even getting traffic until I got a deposit in my bank account... I lived up in the mountains and only got online while in town at the library.

In this case you should not waste further of your time and go for a new domain and work on it, creat quality links and add unique content.
