Best practices to remove an automatic algo penalty?

Around last month my gardening website was hit with an auto penalty ( I think).

I have come to this conclusion because all of my keywords suddenly went from Page 1 to Page 3, not one or two, but all of them, I cannot rank above Page 3 two days after the more recent penguin update.

I have a company called Link Delete getting rid of my bad links and I've been working endlessly to make my website as clean, user friendly and spam free, not that there was really any SPAM before.

My problem is,

I do not seem to be going anywhere still a month on, am I doing something wrong? Should I just get a new domain name, my on-line business has essentially disappeared overnight. Am I supposed to send a reconsideration request?

    It just takes time, this isnt a quick overnight solution. Stick with linkdelete as it can take a few months to properly fix your link profile. Keep in mind that you shouldnt expect your link profile to be cleaned up in just a month. I mean how many months or years did you build links? You see what I'm saying. You need to clean up a long time of link building efforts.

    I needed to use the linkdelete service for around 3-4 months before I recovered. So you can recover.
