Colleges' Old Sites for PBN?

I posted a previous question that was similar to this, but I wanted a few more people's thoughts on these.

I have found 2 PR2 (legit) domains that were previously the domains of colleges. These colleges have moved from a .com/net to a .edu domain, and these are the .com/net versions. They, however, have the exact name of the college in them.

Would you take these? Might there be trademark/copyright issues with the domain? Would you pass on them?

Thanks for the input.

On a case by case basis, maybe. Many top tier colleges protect
the brand and image. Smaller schools would not. If they
did not bother to keep the dot com or net, they probably
don't care. Many colleges or universities have not
trademarked their college, but could still win a judgement.
Note: There MUST be a judgement. Many people forget this.

However, there are many, many colleges with the same name,
intitials, etc. Some would have a difficult time trademarking
the brand, and probably would not even get one. One does
not automatically get a trademark just because one applies for
    one.

If you used the domain in a way that made it seem you were
capitalizing, abusing, or otherwise in partner with them, you
could get in trouble, trademark or not.

.com and .net are under the jurisdiction of US law, just in case
you were wondering about foreign ownership.

Curious how you found out what the PR is...

    Do you work for Google?

To be honest I can't imagine a legit college dropping a domain. Maybe it's a hair college?
