Hey guys..

So I am just fooling around with an opt in page that redirects to an affiliate offer. Its in the make money online niche, which I am assuming is pretty competitive.

My question is..I uploaded a large list of over 1500 keywords associated with this niche and I have got nearly 180k impressions but just 350 clicks. Is this a normal ratio? Also my cost per click is around .25..is this normal as well?

I know the cpc will depend on which niche I am in, but in this niche is this normal?

Sure...you have so many impressions because your targeting is incredibly wide. Your CTR is so unbelievably low as a result. Your opt in rate is probably below 10% and your conversion rate to sales is probably close to $0.00.

Correct. So I need more targeted keywords? But then if I only have 20-30 keywords, it will take forever to get traffic..right?

    Thanks for your input.

The more targeted your keyword list, the higher your CTR will be. You also have to write good ads and bid properly. Quality Score also factors in to your ad rank position.

The top position will get the most clicks, obviously.

The more competitive a keyword, the higher the cost will be to get into the top spot. But, you can get discounts for having a high CTR and a good Quality Score.

It takes time to optimize a campaign. To weed out the poor performing keywords and ads.

Good CTR depends on your ad position. If I got a 1% CTR on position 5, that would be acceptable to me. If I got it on position 1, that would not be acceptable. Anything under 1%, I kill.

I generally try to stay at 3%, preferably higher.
