How to tell SEO tough vs easy competition

I am using Market Samurai and i came across an interesting keyword. I run SEO analysis (see attached) and based on graphics MS is telling me its looks easy: low PR for pages in the results, few backlinks for pages in the results etc. see attached jpg green cells.

BUT all pages are on high authority domains bestbuy, lenovo, cnet etc.

So would you say this is an easy or tough competition?

    Judging by your naive report i can tell that most of those sites got to the first spot on the virtue of trust and authority not a real anchored backlink.

    What these means is, you can rate your competition fair/medium!

    To know your true competition you need to use tools like Traffic Travis, SEOSpyGlass
    and some manual skills..

    Traffic Travis will reveal the age, PR, backlinks and on-site SEO of the top 10 sites since that's your true competitors while you need SEOSpyGlass to check your competitors backlinks to ascertain the number of quality links they have.

    The best form of backlinks for outranking this type of sites is building your own networks.

      Actually Market Samurai also shows age, pr, backlinks (see attached jpg above). When i click on particular site MS will give me backlinks list with associated keywords.

      The feature i find interesting in MS is it shows how many pages have keyword in title and external backlink anchor text.

      MS uses Majestic data for its research. Is it as good as Traffic Travis and SEO SPyglass?

        Eric, as others have said, because TBPR hasn't been updated in a really long time, one would need to look at the actual backlinks pointing to a competitor's page (among other things) to see what the webpage is worth.

        By the way, in SEO SpyGlass you can choose to collect only the backlinks pointing to a specific page of a site as well as check if those links are actually live.

        Certainly, those functions you mentioned is available on TT and SpyGlass for FREE.
