Hello everyone.

Lately I've been doing a lot of SEO but a lot of questions pop-up. I've been doing keyword research and found out that the keyword "Get rid of a stye" has high search volume and low competition.

Now I've been checking the direct .com domain (hxxp://www.howtogetridofastye.com) and that site has 96 backlinks (seen here). The results on page 1 have way less backlinks.

What is the big difference and why isn't that website on the first page?

Let's say I want to rank for this keyword. What would you guys suggest me to do?

Thanks.

I would suggest you to stick making $4,132.07 with your videos.

EMD domains got penalized a while ago, it's something you should be supposed to know while doing "a lot of seo".

    Cheers.

Videos are working great indeed, but I don't want to put all my eggs in one basket.

And with "a lot of SEO" I mean trying to learn it . And what is your source about the EMD? A lot of big SEO blogs have a different opinion about that.

Obviously the one that ranks above has much higher DA (domain authority), the site provides more value to visitors, probably has some internal links etc...

Oh LOL, just checked your backlinks. No offence, but they are awful. A mixture of public private network (not even niche relevant) and blog comments from completely irrelevant (spammed to death) sites won't take you too far. Instead, this crap will tank your site soon enough.

I don't want to be harsh, sure those "methods" worked while ago (1-2 years ago), but they won't help you now. You could even climb steadily upwards the SERP, but this stuff wont last long enough to profit and make it worth it.

Well, I have seen so many similar situations... Even one of my websites was #2 for almost 2-3 months while the #1 was a site with only 100 words of content, without ANY backlinks... Only his domain name was similar to the keyword and maybe this was the reason. You could be in the same situation!

I'd suggest making a better site than the one ranking number 1.

Structure it right, all on-page SEO spot on, great internal linking, and then promote it in the right places. For example, write a guest post on an eye doctors blog or something.

I'm not saying write it and they will come, but sites that are better typically perform better. There are always exceptions, but just focus on making a good site.

And broaden your horizons. Don't make a site about stye's only. Find related topics and build a worthwhile site.
