When will back links appear?

HI Guy's,

I've built a hxxp://petcheckers.co.uk for my girlfriend and at the moment the site is sitting at number 6 on page 3 for the search term "pet sitting lincoln".

Now, I have been busy over the last week submitting to internet directories etc and directories that are related to the services that we offer.

So far though, Market Samurai and Traffic Travis can't see any backlinks to the site - although the site is registered in DMOZ.

Why is this?

Does it take time for them to show?

Or are all the sites I've submitted to giving me nofollow links?

I'm pretty new to this game so any advice would be really appreciated.

  • It can take several months for the links to appear in those tools, if at all. What is important is when the links start to appear in your Google Webmaster tools account for that domain.

  • Yes, It'll take some time to show up your backlinks. But don't worry about it, just keep your focus on building relevant and quality links. You can also start promoting your website on social media sites, that will help you to target relevant audience and get some traffic.

    • Thanks guys, I was super excited to get into the DMOZ directory (within a week!) so hopefully that should help the process as not one of my competitors are in there.

      We are working on a social media strategy at the moment so that should help.
