Hiring an SEO company for a month...?

Do you think it can be worth hiring an SEO company for a month and what do you look for in a company?

I'm very careful about hiring anyone for SEO of course as I keep on eye out on any company that would use techniques that could hurt SEO and besides for that I only want to work with a company that will really give the moneys worth and not be lazy about SEO so if I spend lets say 300 dollars or something there should be plenty of optimizations as well as articles and blogging content, etc...

It seems pretty much like the best thing to do is research whatever seo companies look good and see if they have any reputation online, also talk to them and hear them out, etc...

Any other ideas to find worthwhile seo services?

Thanks

Unless your trying to be funny.
$300 would not even cover monthly content costs for a "real" SEO company. Unless you are looking for some blackhat company who will spin a load of unreadable crap for you, and go mad busy spamming with some auto bots.

Real SEO's will start taking you seriously, as soon as you start taking your SEO seriously.

Unfortunately I guarantee you he thinks he is taking it seriously but he is the kind of potential customer any real SEO runs from.

I take my SEO seriously but I guess this isn't the SEO service I want to be looking at.

I run a blog for my website to try to get into rankings of the market my site is in.

I guess for article writing and blog posting I may as well do it myself from the sounds of it.

The company I found was found on elance actually (they do web design services by hourly pay) and they mentioned they do SEO - their references online look small so maybe they are a newer company - regardless I guess I may need to save up for a more reputable SEO company.

Its not so much the price. You can find someone decent for that per month. Its the whole idea of being a customer for one month only.

Oh well the companies proposal was $325 per month, not as a one month deal but it would go by month. I also talked to the guy there and he said he can't guarantee one month will give a high ranking but that there could be some results.

I understand any company that would offer fast rankings right away could likely get you black listed from google if it is for competitive keywords.

Another site we worked on a few years ago with someone else I think it took the site 6 months to start ranking and getting its first orders, but that's how long it took to see results from the SEO work in terms of ranking, visitors and sales, etc.

IMO, its not even about $300 or $3000.

It's about "a month". This is the mistake here.

1 month of SEO isn't going to bring you any ROI unless you're hiring a blackhat seo (which probably isn't the wisest long term decision).

You might try looking for someone on Elance. If you put $300/month as your starting bid price, you may find someone from India or somewhere whose USD currency is worth more in their country.. with that though you have to remember that english might not be their first language.. research their portfolio thoroughly. Doubtful anyone based in America will do much for you for $300

He doesn't want to pay anything per month the way he wrote it. He's looking to get service and then he plans to cut and run after the first month.

Hire an SEO specialist from elance or odesk for $300/month. I hear they can really spin a lot of articles, provide directory submissions and similar worthless crap all summarized nicely in a spreadsheet for you to look at.

To OP: For $300 you'll get bunch of profile links, blog comments, public blog network links etc. Waste of time & money... People use that kind of services to bunch their competitors into face (neg. seo)

$300 per month for an SEO would be a bottom of the barrel SEO that would not only do you no good, but probably do you harm. I'd suggest either learning SEO yourself or expecting to spend at least $1,000 per month on a GOOD SEO.

SEO is a slow process, I do not think so, the results and ROI in just 1 month. As my experience, with using white hat and unique quality, the website takes minimum 3 months to get ranked at good position in search engines. May be i am saying wrong. But i am sharing with you my experience. If you spend $300/month for unique and quality content, then its not your wastage. It will bring results. But be constant and hire a good company with good repute.

You are investing actually $3300 for hiring an SEO company! Why? because the links they will built for your website will let you pay $3000 later for the removal of those links.

If you are considering to hire an SEO company, then I would recommend 1 month consultation only. Most of the people have misconception that x number of month(s) is good. SEO is not overnight game and it may take 1 year, 2 years or even 5 years to get your brand name established. Unless you are going after something with no competition you will get rankings in 3 months if you are lucky.

I would recommend DIY SEO because $300 SEO company will do more harm than good.

$300 is good for getting someone expert from south Asia. You will find them from Freelancer com, Elance, or oDesk. But, before hiring anyone, briefly tell him/her what exactly you want. Also check their portfolio and previous work feedback from their old clients. Hope fully you will find a professional and reliable person from there. Another important thing is that, hire him/her for a trial period.

Funny thread, everyone claiming short term $300 won't do anything. Like anyone selling services on this forum would turn down $300.

I can get self hosted video thumbnail images attached to any existing internal page with less than 1/2 hour of work, that's still SEO (optimizing SERPs). That's 100 times better than ranking a domain/page like Youtube in Google SERPs, where the self hosted video has zero competition once traffic lands on the page, yet there's a bazillion low budget people selling Youtube SEO for Google SERPs (waste of time).

    That's just one example.

    Carry on with the nonsense...

Our company at one time was paying over 3,000 dollars per month on such services and we only got four or five well written articles, a pr release, and silo creation. I thought there wasn't enough work done either, however I assume you have to really pay out if you wish to get the top dogs interested in providing you the SEO you really need..

Answer is No. You won't see results in a month, and then you'll think it's their fault. You're better off investing in links and watching what happens.

For that sort of budget I suggest you would be better off investing your $300 per month in decent expired domains, graphic design and some unique and well written content in your market segment.

Yeh the issue isn't the price, it's the time frame.

A month is not enough time whether you hire a "legit" SEO company or not.

Google is getting a lot better in terms of timing. I've seen sites go from domain registration to page 1 in as little as 3 weeks in moderately competitive markets (fairy floss machine hire).

I don't think that any SEO guru will work on your website if you offer him only $300.00 unless you want only a review or something like this... If you think you can't afford this, you'd better start learning SEO!
