Are the purely amazon products review sites still capable of making money?

Can the experts advise what one should be careful about while setting up amazon product review sites?

  • Sure. Unique content, 20 posts, go for long-tail traffic i.e., product names, try SocialADR for backlinks and find products with low competition.

Yeah, my new site has had some sales recently, I made adsense sites because its easy, this is my first amazon site, and seen a nice few orders with a 6% conversion rate which is ok I guess. The site in currently dancing around, I think it's Google dance.

Amazon sites are definitely still making money. The Amazon affiliate program is great, but the main focus of an Amazon review site should be on the content, in my opinion. High quality, relevant, unique, and frequently updated content will not only get you a high rank in Google but it will keep you there too. Just gotta make sure you do your keyword research correctly.

I agree, keyword research is the most important factor. Buying keywords will give you a much better chance of converting the traffic into sales.

They are capable of making money, but due to the state of the economy combined with Google now favouring authority sites like next tag, target, etc.. it is harder now than a couple of years ago.

What process do you use for finding buying keywords? Do you just use variations of the product name or do you have a different approach?

    • I use variations of the product name. What I try and do is actually go after the full product name as listed on Amazon for example "Breville BOV800XL Smart Oven 1800-Watt Convection Toaster Oven with Element IQ" with the idea that someone is on Amazon, wants a product review, copies the product name right off Amazon and pastes it into Google. Then my review pops up in the Google search, they click on my affiliate link and I send them back to Amazon (grabbing the commission in the process). The reason this works is because the product name in Amazon is really long - super long-tail.

When I build backlinks I use variations of the full product name in the anchor text. Using my example above, I'd use:

Breville BOV800XL Smart Oven 1800-Watt Convection Toaster Oven with Element IQ

      Breville BOV800XL

      Breville BOV800XL Smart Oven

      Breville Smart Oven Toaster Oven

Etc as an anchor test. You can spin the anchor text using SocialADR.

Note, I haven't done a competition analysis on the above product. Just using it as an example.

      • I'd add - if you are thinking about doing this you should start today because the holidays are the best time. There is a good chance you'd recover your entire investment (assuming you outsourced the articles) in the next two months and then had a site generating a nice cash flow for the rest of the year or sell it on Flippa for 10x earnings.

I use long tail pro and add loads of seed keywords. I target exact product names with review on the end. I normally find myself ranking for these terms and also the main product name too.

I will target my home page site to target the more broad market..

Dont have to do reviews mate. Can use amazon in any niche. Quick example

    Health site.
    Article about removing acne
In the article somewhere " And of course, you could always just spend some money on product x, which seems to work well.

Nowhere does it say that reviewing products is the best way to go.
