Which way of linking is best?

Each link on the PR4 page points to a post in a different category on your money site. The goal is to rank as many posts on your money site as highly as possible (low competition KWs) by using an external PR 4 domain (external domain links to your money site).

The money site uses an internal linking structure whereby each post links to others in the same category. So post A links to post B, B to C, C to D, D to E, and E back to A again.

A PR4 page links to 5 posts on your site.
A PR4 page links to 10 posts on your site
A PR4 page links to 15 posts on your site
A PR4 page links to 20 posts on your site

Which of the above is best if you want to rank as many posts as highly as possible? At what stage would you think you're diluting the link juice too much and would move onto another PR4 page to start the process again? Remember that these are generally low competition keywords we are trying to rank.

    I think you would be better off with that single external PR4 pointing at one page on your site then linking out of your own internal page to the other internal pages your trying to rank.

    • But if you're interlinking tightly how are you meant to rank the posts in other sub-categories? Or would this single PR4 link give your website some kind of authority that would help the other posts to rank as well?

      On my money sites I often create pages that contain links to all of the posts in a category, all sorted in a helpful way, to improve the user experience. This page may have 50 links on it. How about if you point the PR 4 to that page? Or are you diluting the link juice too much with 50?

  • Generally, I feel I am done with an external link after the first link. It is best your efforts spent to get another link from a different site. If you want to spread the link juice around in your site you could use homepage sidebar for recent posts and you could have a "Relevant Post" widget on your site that lists all the relevant posts under each post.
