Hey everyone,

In your experience , when you reach first place in the SERPS for multiple keywords for an article about a product or something, is the traffic instant? Or does it take time for momentum to build up?

Let's say I've got a keyword that gets 5000 searches a month and that's only for that keyword let lone the others.

Traffic has increased slowly for it but not as much as it should for the search volume.

Thanks for your opinions.

Well the thing is that for example 5000 searches per months does NOT translate into exactly 166 searches a day. It changes, a lot. Really depends on the niche / target group, some niches receive most of their traffic during the week, others during the weekends, others only on certain days throughout the month.

Also, I hope you do know that rank 1 doesn't mean that you receive 100% of the traffic It varies by keyword/niche (depends if there is an authority site ranked for your keyword - people might click on it even if it's rank 2 or 3 or worse). Usually rank 1 gets anywhere between 40-60% of the clicks, for some keywords more. But I doubt that it ever gets 100%

Just give it some time, take a look at your results at the end of the month :>

    Cheers!

Are you sure you are ranked #1 or are you seeing personalized results?

Also remember that rankings can vary from region to region. Search results are not universal.

You could be #1 in Florida and #5 in California, for example.

What are the factors that determine region? Just your hosting location? I knew country matters, but I didn't know rankings would change state to state.

IMO, that totally depends on the niche/keyword.

If I search for landscaper, I'm pretty much guaranteed to get local SERPs. If I search for how to build a boat, that's not going to be very localized SERPs. Both searches could be monetized (service + product).

Interesting. Might effect the way I approach certain keywords. Does hosting region matter at all? How does google know if it is local or not?

My guess is they use the local IP address of your internet service provider. So maybe they see that I am in California, and my internet service router WAN (wide area network) IP is in Los Angeles. Then they can serve up results tailored for my geographic region.

I always get traffic from day 1. But traffic is usually never what I expected. Sometimes its a lot less, sometimes its a lot more.

Like I rank #1 for a 3,000 / month keyword. And that keyword generates about 50 clicks a day.

Then I rank #1 for a 14,000 / month keyword. And that keyword generates about 20 clicks a day.

So its very random. Traffic changes. Sometimes its what you expect. Sometimes its better than expected. Certain keywords are seasonal. Other keywords are just random as hell.

But generally speaking, if I'm ranking #1 I see traffic from the first day.

Rankings = traffic. Either Lime... is right and it's geo-targeted or you found a 5,000 BROAD match keyword, and the Exact match volume is much lower.

I think that you can rank number 1 from a brand new site and still do not get any traffic for a while. Then one day it will just click! With authority it can rank quickly and get traffic just as quick. I been doing tests and that is my view point.
