Question - keywords in domain name

Hi Warriors!
I have a quick question - I'm looking into going into a new niche and thinking about two main keywords... These are not the exact kw but I'll use them as an example:
kw 1 - how to make sweaters - 20,000 monthly searches
kw 2 - how to make sweaters at home - 7,000 monthly searches
Of course the domains and their variations are more expensive for the first kw and there are much less of them available.
My question is - if I'll buy 'howtomakesweatersathome.com' wouldn't I be ranking good for both keywords?
And won't I be missing out on the traffic from the 2nd keyword when buying 'howtomakesweaters.com'
I'm not talking about individual posts but the website as a whole.
Also if I'd go for the 1st kw domain (which is not available) is there a difference between having f.e. 'ihowtomakesweaters.com' and 'howtomakesweatershq.com' - I mean the extra letters in front or after the main kw.

    EMDs aren't SEO

    Brand the domain for traffic & build quality links.

    This is a horrible domain name: howtomakesweatersathome.com, it's way too long, simplify the brand & make it easy for traffic to remember (repeat traffic/buyers), example, diysweater.com, ezsweater.com, etc...
  • Go for short name which include your brand name+ kw
  • Like Yukon says go with a brandable name.

    However if YOU MUST go with the EMD and trying to build a site for some short-term cash, then yes I would use the "howtomakesweatersathome.com'" domain as it has both keywords you are trying to target.

    But the EMD boost these days is trivial, and not even necessary if you are decent at SEO. I much rather have a brandable domain name than register one that sounds stupid just for a minimal "EMD boost".
