hi,
I am selling beauty equipment and want to rank high in google, I am sure I can beat my competition as they either have no backlinks or not alot.
the thing is my site has been up and running about 6 months and I still cant find it on google. I initially did adwords but the cpc keywords are quite expensive.
my domain name is not very specific to my site and I am just about to change it to the keyword that gets the most searches. the thing is there are also 8 other products I am selling that have nothing do do with this keyword. can I creat subdomains to get good ranking or does it not work like that, and how would I get around this, any help is appreciated

Google sees subdomains as totally different websites. Your subdomain will be keyword_phrase.yourdomain.com and will have the new keyword phrase in the URL which will help.

    Hi Helen,

Sub-domain would be a good option if the product is relevant to your keyword. Since, they are different, I would suggest that you make them on a new domain. Having said that, you can still use sub-domains but it is not recommended as it makes your site's theme bit vague which can dent your SERPs.

hi, my site sells about 6 different products, there is content and pages on the site for all the products, my main product is the new domain name I have just bought which is also the most popular keyword. I asked my hosting company if I could buy different domain names for each product and to point people to the same page, the man I spoke to said it couldnt be done, is this so?

Having in mind what you said about the competition, I wouldn't bother with domain or subdomain changes. It will likely suffice to have the keyword in the page part of the url, basic on page SEO and some backlinks.

In my experience it has such a little significance as to where in the url the keyword is, as long as it's there, you're good.

I would say do it while there is no competition , if the competition suddenly realises you are on to a good thing it will be too late and you will be miles ahead unless the spend some serious cash.

I like subdomains and always thing that it created better internal linking between the subs if you have the same design ( but obviously different content, because google would see this as different sites with the same content otherwise)

My 2 cents , of course i could be wrong
