I'm looking for opinions on this.
Lets say I have the following keywords listed in my adgroup keywords
blue suit coat
"blue suit coat"
[blue suit coat]

Now say a surfer types in, blue suit coat, all three keywords are eligible to be shown. Do we know for sure that the exact match is going to be the one which receives the impression stat?

Becuase if I only have "blue suit coat" in my keyword list and a surfer types blue suit coat, then my keyword is just as relevant as someone who only has the exact match [blue suit coat] in their keyword list.

The matching options should only affect a keyword when more text than the actual keyword is actually searched for.

Anyone have any experience on this? Thank you.

    #searches is the number of searches that will view the results page for that keyword typed like this... blue suit coats

    Since you have the broad term blue suit coat in your adgroup, anything vaguely resembling blue suit coat will display your ad as in blue sky and suit and coat in the cold or something like that. Broad suppresses phrase and exact.

    Becuase if I only have "blue suit coat" in my keyword list and a surfer types blue suit coat, then my keyword is just as relevant as someone who only has the exact match [blue suit coat] in their keyword list.

    Yes, but your ad will show for blue suit coat and also for blue suit coat with prefix and suffix. If you only had [blue suit coat], your ad will be triggered only if the keyword input by the user is blue suit coat in the same order.

    The matching options should only affect a keyword when more text than the actual keyword is actually searched for.

    Phrase is a subset of broad and exact is a subset of phrase and broad.
