I posted my ebook on a popular PR8 website. The url for my ebook looks like follows

pr8.com/my-ebook-title.html

In 2 days the above linked got indexed and included in search results. I was ranking in 30-40s for my keywords.

I checked a week later and url is no longer in index and page is no longer showing up in search results.

What could have caused url on pr8 site getting dropped from Google like that?

pr8.com was just an example. what i meant was very-popular-domain-with-pagerank8.com/my-book

meaning domain with page rank 8.

Its sad that half of the responders could not figure that out. However did you really believe that just because a site home page has a PR8 that you would rank any URL you created on it? In that case all Wordpress.com and Blogger sites should rank

PAGE Rank refers to PAGES not Domains. Your page is still a N/A

What's sad is there's a huge percentage of bogus links being sold on that exact sales pitch.

I did not have to pay anything. Site gets commission if my book is sold.

    hey there,

mate if ur pr8 link is not any longer indexed maybe such domain either has gone forever or that domain was considered as a spammy site...just take into account Google slap is more common than people may think due to regular google algorithm updates!! if u no longer see your ebook on the search resull page...just move on to another strategy..dont ever stick with it and waste your valuable time!! regards and take care of yourself!!:-)

  • Hmm, yes. Have you checked if your link is still on the PR8.com site? If it is, were you able to background check the PR8.com and see if the site was not de-indexed? Or perhaps your link on that site was set to 'no follow'. These are the possible reasons I could think of. I hope that helps!

The link and site still exist. Its a major website similar to amazon.com so it will not be de-indexed.

OK, nobody expects any ranking here, but I would have thought the page should be indexed. No returns for searching a sentence of your content with " " ?

If not, and I've seen it multiple times "I posted my ebook on a popular PR8 website"
...are you sure about that? Or did you get duped???

The site is a real PR8 site and i do not have to pay unless my product sells.
I did a few more searches with quotes as well as without quotes but using full title and the page is now showing in Google.

      As far as rankings go.
I checked and top 10 results for my keywords are mostly pages on PR4-6 domains. Pages themselves are mostly PR0-1. When i put my product on PR8 i have the keywords in URL, title and description so i was expecting to rank in Top 50 instead i am in 400-500.

      Was my assumption wrong

Have you built any links to that page? IMO sounds like a Google dance.

Not yet. I wanted to see how a page on pr8 domain ranks by itself first.

I was expecting much better results though.

Looks like it got slapped..How is your link profile overall? If you have done shady back link building Google can take you down quickly. If you can share what you have done in the last year that would be great to know so that we can see in more details as of what happened to it...

I have not done anything at all. The PR8 site is a major site similar to amazon.com.

I added my ebook and url looks like this big-name-pr8-site.com/my-ebook-title-with-keywords.html

I did not do any backlinks to the url at all.

How long ago did you post the page... I have posted a new page to a website with decent page rank (4). I was ranking on page 2 for my target keywords, a few days later page 1, the next day boom completely gone from results.

After a week and a half it found it's place in the search engines and it was there to stay. Then I started building links to it.

Conclusion - if it's been less than a couple of weeks, relax brother. If you're feeling really impatient/worried build send a couple of weak links to it just to make sure it gets indexed (squidoo, hub pages, wordpress.com, weebly, etc.) and maybe a bit of social bookmarking on it just to get things going.

You're overthinking it and worrying about a non-issue in my opinion.
