Hi, would you give me suggestions on a good xml image sitemap generater wordpress plug in? One that actually lists all the images.

I have tried Udinra All Image Sitemap and it did not generate all the images for my pages/posts.

I checked online and found that other people say that Google XML sitemap was generating only a few listings out of all the images they had.

So I thought I would ask the forum. I searched first and did not find much either.

Thanks.

The one I use is SiteTree, its a small clean plug-in with very few options and lists all my content in a systematic way. What I am looking for is what settings I should use for tags.

should I keep them on priority along with the posts or keep their priority to weekly or monthly basis.

Thanks Bluefire. I will look into that.

As to Tags - I took them out. You can go to Posts --> Tags and remove them. I was trying to get rid of duplicate content and just focus on the pages and posts, as several tag listings were doing better than my posts. I used ultimate noindex nofollow plugin.

Start another thread and someone can explain that more, or do a search.

Thanks for the reverting back Jeannie. I have a post regarding sitemap in this very same section, but unable to get any satisfactory answer.

So should I exclude tags completely and re-build my sitemap

Here is a screenshot of my tag settings

If it were me I would exclude tags. So you would click exclude, or never. Then rebuild your sitemap.

You should try Wordpress SEO by Yoast. Gives you a lot of onpage optimization options, and dynamic sitemaps too that include pages, posts, categorys and images. It pings the search engines every time your blog is updated with a new post, which is nice for quick indexation. Very easy to set up too.

I'ts the one that gave me the best results after trying a few.

Thanks for mentioning that. I had tried that sitemap generator on a site, but did not see where it generated an image sitemap. In addition, I would have to change over from another plugin and it does not import the keywords, only one, so I would have to go through each page/post by hand. *SIGH*

You wont actually see the image sitemap at /sitemap_index.xml, but if you submit it, WMT will start to show the total amount of images associated to the post_sitemap and page_sitemap sent to be indexed independently of the post/pages associated with them.

About the keyword tags, I don't use them because they seem to be deprecated since 2009 but that's my own choice, a lot of people use them.

          Thanks for the feedback.

If I don't actually see the image sitemap, do I still grab /sitemap_index.xml and submit that at Google webmaster tools? That is why I am looking into this, to post there for Google.

          Thanks.

You'll need the exact URL for any xml sitemap that you want to submit to GWT. If you can't view your xml sitemap in a Incognito browser (not logged into WP) then Google most likely won't be able to see the xml file.

Yes, you should submit the /sitemap_index.xml to WMT and Google will grab it and sepparately show post, pages and category sitemaps on your WMT dashboard depending on your Yoast configuration. The images sent to be indexed are going to appear then associated to the post sitemap (and pages too, if you have images in your pages).
